A Locket – A Collar Bone and Other
Abstract, surrealist post-goth-rock would be my closest description upon examination of a locket’s A Collar Bone and Other Breaking Teeth Nelodies. The artist’s(real name Brandon Vosika) soft vocal melodies float over dissonant chord progressions and crunchy, ethereal sound effects, creating an eerie and slightly unnerving backdrop.
a locket is reminiscent of indie goth-rock band The Black Heart Procession with a little Sigur Ros thrown in, indicated by its unsettling vocals and ghostly xylophone, accordion, and violin. I would consider the album more like a work of art or statement piece since it is so ambient and progressive, building as it goes along. It’s a strange and dissonant build and if you’re looking for something that would set the tone at an art show, this would be a great pick. The album is available in a limited (34 copies) hand-painted and drawn edition on the artist’s MySpace page.
Released on I’m So Sorry Records
