Bassturd – Demo

If metal/screamcore is what you are into you would enjoy the new 9-song demo from Bassturd. Loaded with distortion, stock metal guitar licks and throaty, screaming vocals the group does their thing pretty well and with a lot of passion.

Conversely, the record starts to sound the same to me. Perhaps after a few more listens I would have felt the nuances of the works, but as it sits now I must say that Bassturd does not break any new ground with this record. It is virtually impossible to understand the lyrics, and the mix seems a bit muddy at times. I also have a problem with sreamcore in general due to the fact that all of the vocalists of the genre think they have to sound alike and unfortunately they are all annoying.

As a whole, bassturd is a tight band who definitely would deliver an energetic set at a live performance and thankfully they are not afraid of being loud. One question that I have for this band is simply what the hell is a bassturd?
