CD Reviews – June 2011 – Sacrament Ov Impurity: A World Beheld by Damnation
I’m gonna be honest with you. I only listened to the first five songs of this at work today. I have a really good excuse. This is Black Metal that is executed really well. It was frightening the customers. I’ve got to make a living after all. It’s definitely not tater tots at happy hour kind of music.
If you’re looking for the “tiny sounding. I recorded this in my bedroom cause I’m soooo depressed and nobody understands me style,” this is not the place to look. This is played and produced really well. The recording sounds big, and the bass exists. The drummer must be a monster live.
I was told by Michelle Shutte that I was not allowed to give this band a bad review. That is a review in itself. They played The Shakedown a few months ago and they turned a lot of heads. I’m not so into the ov part of their name (I know that has nothing to do with the music) but I’m really looking forward to seeing them again. If you see me sometime soon I’ll tell you how the other six songs are cause I will be listening.
