A Gun That Shoots Knives

A Gun That Shoots Knives met in Bellingham. Jimmy LaRue, Jeff Greenwood and Kelly Sorbel all lived in a big house down the street from Brian Stabile (also called Stubby) in 2002. They were in a band called VK and he was playing with a band called the Telepathic Heart Massage. they became friends through Emil Africa, who went to school with Stubby and was roommates with the rest. They all hung out, drank beers and broke stuff. They even played a show together. In 2003, Stubby moved to Seattle, where he tried to start a new band called A Gun That Shoots Knives. Unfortunately, the other members of AGTSK weren’t as devoted as him, and went off to get married or go to college. After six months without a band to play with, Stubby went crazy. He asked his friends Jimmy, Jeff, Kelly and Pat Regan if they wanted to play some music some time. They did and it was good. Stubby decided to keep the name A Gun That Shoots Knives out of pure spite. Pat quit the band to go and be a father, but everybody else stayed together and now they even have a fifth member, Scot Michael. They have released two albums: “Miracle” and “Future of Love”. The entire band now lives in Seattle and are currently hard at work on their third album.

A Gun That Shoots Knives plays infectiously catchy rock songs that defy definition. their influences range across the entire gamut of what could be called music, dredging forth from the primordial ooze of possible sound combinations only the finest gems of harmonic and rythmic interplay. Their ultimate goal in songwriting is nothing less than the perfect feel-good song.

Recently, A Gun That Shoots Knives lost a very dear friend, Gunther Jose Frank. He was the band’s official photographer and though he didn’t play an instrument, he was considered a member of the band. This photo was from the last photo shoot AGTSK did with Gunther, which clearly shows his artistic and technical brilliance. He will be dearly missed.
