Thursday 5/12/11 – Pan Pan, Bill Lohse – The Ridge Wine Bar

“Like their namesake, Pan Pan conjures whimsy, the wilderness, and the quiet swell of subtle emotions with a simple flourish of horn set above piano rumble. The solo project of Bellingham’s Sarah Jerns, Pan Pan is Morricone by way of Beirut, a suggestive mix of cinema and exuberant release. Spare percussion underpins Jerns’ wandering trumpet. Her piano skips through a field-recorded dream. Horns catch your hair and buoy traveling spirits. It’s an abduction of your senses, a permission slip for wild abandon. Listen.”

Friday 5/13/11 – Zorbatron, Shit Machine (Album Release), Party Thighs – The Shakedown

It all started as a background thought while on tour several years ago that soon became an obsession, but the songs in his head were radically different than what would fit in his current ensemble. Saturday 5/14/11 – Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars – Wild Buffalo

“Sitting in a dusty refugee camp in Guinea in 2004, Reuben M. Koroma, the founder of Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars, could not have imagined what the near future would hold for him and the members of his band. In just six whirlwind years, the group has gone from being unknown musicians languishing in various refugee camps to being the subject of an acclaimed documentary film, touring the world to support a critically revered album, appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and sharing the stage and studio with Aerosmith and other international stars. Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars have risen like a phoenix out of the ashes of war and enflamed the passions of fans across the globe with their uplifting songs of hope, faith and joy.”

Sampling genres from psych-rock to blues, New Romantic to polka, they have been musically compared to UGK and Atmosphere in the same breath. They have toured and shared stages with Kanye West and Aesop Rock to equal success. They have produced for Lil’ Scrappy as well as KRS-One. They have crafted songs with international soul superstar Cee-Lo Greenand politically charged indie-favorite Immortal Technique on the same album.”

Saturday 5/21/11 – David Allan Coe – Wild Buffalo

“A life-long renegade, singer/songwriter David Allan Coe is one of the most colorful and unpredictable characters in country music history. One of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the ’70s, he hasn’t had many big hits — only three of his singles hit the Top Ten — but he has been among the biggest cult figures in country music throughout his career.”
